Flash

What is it? flash icon

Flash refers to Adobe Flash Player and to the Adobe Flash multimedia authoring program. Adobe Flash Player is a multimedia and application player for use with web browsers. The Adobe Flash Player provides a uniform basis for authors to create animation and sound streamlined for use on the web. Adobe Flash Player technology is a popular medium for adding interactivity to websites.

The Adobe Flash multimedia authoring program is the authoring tool used to develop these Flash movies. It includes support for vector and raster graphics, a scripting language called Actionscript and bi-directional streaming of audio and video.

  • HLN: This flash menu was designed for a learning object created by the Dept. of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
  • SimBasin: Students experiment in a flash based simulated river basin to assess land use and how it affects flooding.
