What is it?
RSS Feeds are a family of web feed formats used to publish regularly updated content. RSS stands for a variety of standards:
- Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0)
- Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91, RSS 1.0)
- RDF Site Summary (RSS 0.9 and 1.0)

What are the educational uses and benefits?
Classroom Management:
- In conjunction with student Weblogs, instructor can collect all student's posts at one location. This allows instructors to quickly scan to make sure it's appropriate and comment on it.
Research:
- Provides students with a large breadth of current events from news sources.
- Provides students with a large breadth of information from various RSS sources.

How do I get started?
- Download an RSS Reader.
- Most RSS Reader sites will require a username and password.
- To add a site to your RSS Reader click on “Add Feeds.”
- Browse by category or type in the URL of the site that you wish to include in you RSS feeds.
- Some websites will include an RSS icon. If you click on the icon it will include that website in your RSS feeds.
- Many RSS Readers will send your RSS feeds to your Email address for instant notification of new information.
