What is it?
Skype is a free, downloadable software package that uses the internet to provide a real-time interactive environment designed for use in distance communication. Skype allows users to make telephone calls over the internet. Computer-to-computer calls are free, while the SkypeOut feature allows a computer user to call landlines or cell phones for a nominal fee. Conference calls can host up to 24 participants. Conference calls can mix computer-to-computer calls and phone/cell phone users.
Skype includes multiple real-time features to aid in the simulation of a face-to-face meeting or discussion.

How do I get started?
- Download Skype software and install.
- Both instructors and students must have a Skype account and software.
- Add usernames of other Skype users to the contacts list.
- The instructor can start a conference in using Skype by opening the software and calling people from the contact list.
- **Note**Users who are interested in utilizing computer to landline or cell phones will need to either purchase Skype credit or subscription.
